Online Abstract Submission

Guideline

Abstract submission can be made via online.

There will be no extension after the above deadline basically.Also, please note that no submissions and modifications will be acceptable after the deadline.

Requirements for Presenter

1. JBS membership is a must.
   If you are not a member, please apply for the membership first
   (application to seikagaku@jbsoc.or.jp).
2. Those who submit abstracts are required to register as participant in advance.
   Please complete registration for participation beforehand.
3. As a first author / presenter, you can submit ONLY ONE PAPER.

How to Submit Abstracts Online

1. Open Period

April 19^th − May 17^th , 2011 (no extension after deadline)

2. Online Submission System (UMIN)

Your abstract will be accepted via online abstract system called UMIN only.

3. Inquiry Number

You are required to register as a participant before you proceed to abstract submission. Please obtain the inquiry number by completing online registration beforehand. At the abstract submission page which will be linked at the bottom of this page during the open period, you need to enter necessary information including this number.

4. Presentation Style (Poster / Oral)

All the free presenters are expected to make poster presentation (topic list: the Classification of the Poster Sessions).
In addition, some papers will be selected for oral presentation.

5. JBS Young Presentation Award

Appox.100 presenters who are students or young researchers who received their doctorate within 5 years as of April 1, 2011 will be awarded JBS Young Presentation Award for their excellent oral presentations. We strongly encourage you to apply for oral presentation.

6. Member Number

In the process of your abstract submission, you are required to enter your membership number.
If you don’t have JBS membership, please complete membership application procedure beforehand.

7. Payment of Membership Fee

Enter the date when you paid this year’s annual membership fee. In case you do not keep the receipt, please enter as follows;

1. Case 1: Surely paid but lost the receipt:
   Enter "January 1st, 2011" as date of payment.
2. Case 2: Joined JBS and waiting for the transfer sheet, but not reached yet.
   Enter "January 2nd, 2011" as date of payment
3. Case 3: Still in the course of application procedure:
   Enter "January 3rd, 2011" as date of payment.

8. Length of Abstract

Your abstract is required to be less than 1,700 bytes including titles and authors. If your abstract has too many characters, it will be printed in very small fonts. If the number of the character exceeds the limit, you need to shorten your paper.

9. Receipt Code and Password

When you complete abstract submission successfully, you will receive automatic message with ‘RECEIPT CODE’ by e-mail. This code and password you create in the submission page will be necessary to view and edit your abstract. In case you do not receive the e-mail message, please check the e-mail address you have entered and try to submit once again.

10. Correction of Submitted Abstracts

You can modify abstract you have submitted via online only for the open period. (unavailable after deadline)

11. Withdrawal of Submitted Abstracts

You can withdraw abstract you have submitted via online only for the open period. (unavailable after deadline)

12. Notice of Acceptance / Rejection

Acceptance Notice will be sent to you by e-mail in early July.

13. Others

Submit text only; references, tables, figures or any other graphics are not permitted.
Booklet which contains accepted abstracts and JBS Journal supplement (September issue) will be delivered to JBS members before the meeting.
