Greetings
Invitation to the 84th Annual Meeting
The Japanese Biochemical Society wishes to invite you to Kyoto in September 2011 to participate in its 84th Annual Meeting, which we hope, with the help of colleagues and friends, will turn out to be one of the most intellectually stimulating events in biochemistry in Japan in 2011.
This meeting will highlight the theme gUnity in Biochemistry, Beyond the Species.h The scope of biochemistry has expanded to encompass a wide rang of organisms including microbes, plants, and animals. Now, by utilizing the genome\our common touchstone\we hope to surpass the traditional boundaries of gspeciesh and bring together specialists from diverse frontiers in the biochemical sciences. We especially hope to interest young attendees in research they might not normally be able to experience.
The Annual Meeting of the Japanese Biochemical Society Outstanding Presentation Award will be given to the young presenter who makes the most outstanding presentation. Additionally, we have made special allowances for student participation and registration fees to increase the number of research presentations from young participants competing for the award.
On September 25th, we have scheduled a lecture at the Kyoto University Clock Tower Centennial Hall by Prof. Shin-Ichi Fukuoka, who is the author of best-selling science books in Japan, and also appearing on a television program on NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation) dealing with the life sciences, gInochi Dramatich (Dramatic Life). We hope that you will be able to extend your stay by a day to participate in this event.-
This meeting has been organized in collaboration with everyone affiliated with the Japanese Biochemical Society in the Kinki region, including the committee of the 84th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Biochemical Society. Let me take this opportunity to express my gratitude for everyonefs support. I look forward to a meaningful event and hope to see you in Kyoto!
Ikuko Hara-Nishimura, Meeting President
